Filed in the District Court of Thomas County, this lawsuit asserts that Pfizer made false statements and concealed risks associated with its COVID-19 vaccine, including links to pregnancy complications and heart inflammation conditions such as myocarditis and pericarditis. Demanding unspecified monetary damages, Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach says Pfizer’s misleading statements violated the Kansas Consumer Protection Act.

The lawsuit also accuses Pfizer of falsely asserting that its vaccine retained high effectiveness against mutated variants and that it prevented both illness and transmission of the virus. Recent evidence has shown these claims to be untrue. The Kansas legal action follows a similar lawsuit filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton last year. Other states are reportedly also planning to file COVID-19 vaccine-related lawsuits.
